"We had a frustrating night last night," wrote Red Rooster III skipper Andy Cates, "starting off good after dinner. Then the conditions died and the fish went away and the sharks came on. We made a couple of moves but never could get anything going, with 14 tuna for the night, and a long night it was.
Bob Michener hooked and landed a 218-pounder after the third anchor job right before daylight. That fish was a victory for him and he won a Boss Extreme 600 narrow from Accurate. If you can believe this, he gave up the prize for the next angler that catches fish of the day. Anyway we are headed in to spend the rest of the trip on the inside. More than anything, we're just looking for a change of pace. The guys are whipped from the long nights and days."
