Shogun Skipper Bruce Smith arrived at Fisherman's Landing July 2 after a five-day trip to Cedros Island. They ended fishing a big school of albacore, a school estimated by Smith as a "70-mile spread."
"We had good albacore fishing," continued Smith. "It's looking like we'll be having an extended season, since the albacore took their sweet time showing up earlier this year."
Terry Bradley of Syracuse, NY landed a 52.8-pound bluefin on rental gear for first place in the jackpot.
"These guys are professional," said Bradley, "a great boat."
Floyd "William" Parker also of Syracuse, posed with a 30.8-pound yellowtail; the biggest of the trip.
Bob Kaisaki of Las Vegas was second place with a 34-pound halibut caught at Cedros Island.
"We got the six bluefin with the school of albies," said Kaisaki. "We didn't get a lot of yellows, but I did get my big halibut there."
