"A great ten-day fall trip. We got all we wanted," said chartermaster Stan Vanderburg of Rod & Reel Radio at Pt. Loma Sportfishing after skipper Kevin Osborne docked Intrepid following the trip with 25 anglers.

Dave Mosher of Fairfield won first place for his 240-pound yellowfin. He said he got it to the boat in 45 minutes, after it ate his sardine on a 5/0 Owner tournament hook on 100-pound Blackwater fluorocarbon and 130-pound Izorline spectra. He fished with a Tiagra 30 LRS reel and a Calstar 765 L rod.

Ed Mark of Goleta won second place for a 232-pounder. He fished a sardine on a 5/0 ringed Owner Super Mutu hook on 130-pound Seaguar Premier fluorocarbon and one of the boat's loaner rigs.

Jason Ysais of Sylmar bagged a 218-pound tuna with a sardine under the fishing kite, on a 6/0 ringed Owner Super Mutu hook and another boat rig: 130-pound Seaguar Premier fluorocarbon, 130-pound Line One spectra, an Avet 50 reel and a Super Seeker 6463 XXXH rod.

Dennis Padgett of Victorville caught a 207.4-pound tuna with a sardine on a 5/0 ringed Owner Super Mutu hook. He used 100-pound P-Line, 130-pound spectra, an Avet 30 reel and a Super Seeker 2 X 4 rod.

Stan Vanderburg of Simi Valley got a 206.5-pound yellowfin tuna with a sardine on a ringed Gamakatsu hook and 100-pound Maxima fluorocarbon. He said he fished with 130-pound Power Pro spectra on an Avet HXW reel and a Super Seeker 2 X 4 rod.

Steve Metzler of Rancho Mirage took 40 minutes to land a 207.2-pound tuna on a sardine and a 3/0 ringed Owner Super Mutu hook. He said he fished with 90-pound fluorocarbon and 100-pound spectra on an Avet 50 reel and a Super Seeker 2 X 4 rod.

Those six fish made the 200-pound mark. Several others were close.
