Captain Mike Pritchard returned Intrepid to Point Loma Sportfishing after a six-day Larry Brown Open to Guadalupe Island.

Glenn Gudaz of Ventura fished a sardine on a 5/0 Eagle Claw ringed circle hook to take the jackpot fish, a 90.4-pound yellowfin tuna. He used 40-pound Seaguar fluorocarbon, 40-pound Izorline, an Avet LX reel, and a Calstar rod. "Everything went well," Glenn said remembering the fight.

John Lind of Yorba Linda won second with a 73-pound tuna. He fished a 2/0 Owner ringed hook, 25 yards of 40-pound Blackwater topshot, 80-pound Jerry Brown Hollow Spectra, an Accurate BX-2 500 reel, and a Calstar 875 rod. John fished with his son, Jason, who caught a 73-pound tuna on the balloon. It was his personal best, but ineligible for the jackpot. Chartermaster Larry Brown of Playa Del Rey won third place with a 72.2-pound yellowfin. Larry fished a 2/0 Owner SuperMutu hook, 35-pound Blackwater fluorocarbon, an Avet MX reel, and a Phenix 760X rod.
