Qualifier 105 arrived June 9 at Pt. Loma Sportfishing under Joe Crisci's hand, following an eight-day skiff and kayak trip to Cedros/Benitos, on a Big Hammer plastic baits trip. Pete Wolf of Santa Barbara was chartermaster and 18 anglers were aboard.
There was no jackpot. Anglers said several of the many bass caught were in the seven to eight-pound range. There were also several yellowtail caught in the 40-pound range. Anglers said they caught yellowtail by tossing plastics toward the beach.
Troy Zoerhof of Laguna Beach got a big yellow with a four-inch Big Hammer in red, after a half-hour fight. He posed with Mark Gaylord of Riverside, who took an identical yellow by slow-trolling a sardine from a kayak.
