Too Much Of A Good Thing

We ran out from the yellowtail grounds in the nicest weather of our new 2012 season. We looked forward to glassing in grease calm weather but like everything, there is always the other side to the story. Today the ocean had the swimming pool effect where the top layer of the ocean was warm due to no wind and glassy conditions, so it was impossible to work any kind of temperature edge. We ended up driving around the ocean in generic water hoping to find a school.
At the end of the day we scratched about 40 mixed tuna for the half day of fishing and hopefully tomorrow we will be busy all day.

Nothing's Easy

We went to the yellowtail grounds and had a tough go at it. There were a few different areas that definitely had potential, but for different reasons we could never put it together. We barely scratched out 2 around but we all know that means some guys got three or four and some guys had tough luck. The great Lance Withee once said "if it was easy, everybody would do it". Changing Quick

It's amazing how fast the ocean conditions change. Last trip was straight bluefin with just a few yellowfin, whereas today it was the exact opposite. For some reason the bluefin schools had their nose in the mud, but we made up for the slack time by scratching away at 100 yellowfin tuna. The wind is coming up so we are moving down wind.
