UPDATE 3:15pm - The San Diego just called in and are up to 7 Bluefin Tuna now, but the grade of fish that they have been fighting this afternoon have been 70-120lbs. They have hooked 6 of these big boys but have lost all of them to tackle failures. Capt. Ryan suggest bringing a 50# or 60# setup for these big fish with a two speed reel and a fluorocarbon topshot.
11:30am - Captain Ryan on the San Diego just called in with 6 Bluefin Tuna and 10 Yellowtail resting comfortably in the RSW. Three of the Bluefin are over 50lbs. and the remainder in the 20-30lb class. Ryan reported numerous losses due to..................wait for it............... light tackle. He suggests 25 to 30lb mainline and a fluorocarbon topshot along with 1/0 hooks. The San Diego is scheduled daily at 5:30am to fish offshore through Sunday 4/2. Trip cost is $145 and NO passport is required!
